Skimming is a speed-reading technique used to get the main idea of a text. When you skim a text, you run your eyes over the text, noting important information. B. Scanning C. Sequence to skimming a text D. Practice |
| Strategies/ Activities | Step1:The teacher introduces the class by defining and explaining: skimming and scanning.
Step 2: Students, in small group, skim and scan a prose passage in order to detect its subject matter. Step 3: Students and teacher interact as they summarize a passage within a given time. Step 4. The students were asked to skim a short prose passage. Step 5: Students were allowed to ask questions and proper feedback was given. Step 6: Students were guided by the teacher while carrying out their class work and marking and feedback was given immediately. Step 7: The teacher recapitulates on relevant points as he gives assignment to the students. |
| Assessment/ Evaluation | Skim the summary passage on page 133 of your text (New Concept English for SS2) and answer the question on it in 2minutes. |
